Windstream Paetec Acquisition
The Windstream Paetec acquisition has formed a network serving more than 450,000 businesses with 100,000 miles of fiber. Here is their new network map:
Before the acquisition, Windstream had a strong regional footprint, but had no presence in the Northeast or California. Acquiring Paetec makes Windstream a true national carrier. They will soon be offering nationwide MPLS, and everything from POTS to cloud computing hosted PBX over MPLS. They are hoping that this acquisition will go as smooth as it did with Nuvox. As for pricing, Winstream can now quote the Paetec network and Paetec and quote the Windstream network. One thing they cannot do right now is provide multi-location mpls across both networks. According to Windstream that should be available in the 1st quarter of 2012. Some of things Windstream is currently working on include: enhancing the fiber network in the west implementing Paetecs AllWorks product into Windstream evaluating all pricing across the two networks and working to implement a common price structure evaluating whether Paetecs EFS-equipment for services will still be available. Right now the EFS is available on the Paetec network only and will be for the foreseeable future.
TelSolutions has worked with both Windstream and Paetec and have found them easy to work with, both on the auditing side when we have applied for credits and refunds, as well as on the servicing side throughout the complete telecom cycle. If you have any questions on this or anything else, please feel free to give TelSolutions a call at 888 587-8271 x302.
